NEWSBusiness Development Manager appointedDate Posted : 9th June 2008By Robert Kelly (Leyland Guardian)Danny Abram, 28, has just joined the club as the new business development officer and has been given the task of generating income from advertising and corporate packages. Club chairman Terry Gammans was pleased with the appointment and the high quality of the candidates who had applied for the post. He said: "We had 13 applicants for the job and we went through a series of selection processes and was a difficult decision. "But I am delighted with the successful candidate as I believe he has a good business acumen as he ran his own marketing firm, Absolute Solutions. "He is self-motivated with lots of enthusiasm and he is keen to build up a rapport with local business and maintain their place and make them feel part of the club." Gammans admits this move is a step towards making the club a more professional outfit. He said: "It is a big commitment by the club to make sure the financial side is helping us to attract the best footballers in the league. "The key is to attract local businesses to the club and use our facilities as sometimes last season it was a ghost-town." The job will allow Danny to combine his experience in business with one of his greatest passions – football. Danny, from Heskin, said: "I am really excited about the opportunity to work at the club. I have always worked in sales and I think there are local businesses in the area who will want to advertise with the club. "My key focus will be to raise the profile of the club both to the fan base and also to local businesses. We aim to maximise the opportunities for local businesses to help support our ambitions on the pitch."
