NEWSBamber Bridge 4 Colwyn Bay 3Date Posted : 31st August 2008
Brig progressed through to a home tie against Witton Albion in the next round of the FA Cup after a pulsating match which kept fans on the edge of their seats right until the final whistle.
Brig boss Phil Entwistle made four changes from the side beaten at Stormy Corner on Monday. Down to the bench went Jamie Nay and Neil Spencer, whilst Neil Zarac was injured in the pre-match warm-up and Allan Fleming missed out through illness. Replacing them were captain Glenn Steel, Mark Edmeads, Sean O’Neil and Tom Ince. Included on the bench were two recent signings Steve Flitcroft and Nicolas Bozonnet.
Colwyn Bay were under new management and had assembled an almost completely new side in the summer. Only one player, defender Tim Brandreth, remained from the side that faced Brig in the UniBond Challenge Cup last November. Included in the visitors’ ranks were two familiar faces, former Brig midfielder Steve Aspinall and on-loan striker Andy Moran.
